Get To Know Ashley
How long have you worked in a caregiving role?
When my mother was first diagnosed with epilepsy and when my grandmother slipped and fell when mopping the kitchen floor, the same year! I didn’t have a certificate because I was 15.
Why did you choose to become a CNA?
I choose to become a CNA because it’s the next best thing to becoming a nurse. CNAs are able to get up close and personal.
What is the best part of being a CNA/caregiver?
The best part is putting a smile on someone else’s face. To know that they feel safe and comfortable around me, to share their deepest thoughts with me.
What is your proudest moment at work?
To see my client’s face brighten up when I come to work and to know that they trust me inside their territory.
What do you wish everyone knew about being a CNA/caregiver?
Caregiving is not for the weak. It comes with responsibilities. You have to really be patient and understanding to understand the importance of care. Being patient is really a virtue and you can learn a lot about a person by listening.
