SAH hired two new part-time leads in Ann Arbor, Amanda and Kendra!

Gentle caregiver approach training will be completed by the end of this month.

The team developed a new Jeopardy game for gentle approach training and a SAH trivia game for orientation.

SAH reached almost 900 care hours in one week – the most hours ever in SAH history!

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! Since 1992, the United States has designated this month to celebrate all Asians and Pacific Islanders in the country. May was specifically chosen to commemorate this month as the first Japanese immigrants to the U.S. came on May 7, 1843. This month also celebrates the transcontinental railroad, completed on May 10, 1869, due to the thankless manual labor of Chinese immigrants.

As we celebrate this month, it is important that we also acknowledge and work together to stop anti-Asian hate crimes, bias and xenophobia. To combat these heinous behaviors by confronting our past, the Amache National Historic Site Act was signed into law in 2022 to “memorialize the 10,000 Japanese Americans who were unjustly imprisoned at Amache during World War II”. This is just the beginning of several things we can do as a country to remedy past discrimination.

In addition to confronting bias and hate, we can also work to celebrate the uniqueness and longevity of Asian and Pacific Islander cultures!
